Black Panther and Storm in Shining City upon a Hill

Previously in The Black Panther and Storm:

For over ten thousand years warrior kings called Black Panthers ruled and protected the isolated and unconquerable African nation Wakanda. In their isolation Wakanda became the most scientifically advanced nation on Earth. T’Challa was the latest Black Panther, and he believed that his great nation was obligated to use its resources to help the less fortunate; defenseless peoples of the world against tyranny, corruption and megalomaniac super humans.

Black Panther later married Ororo ‘Storm’ Munroe the non-Wakandan mutant heroine. However, in Wakanda the royal couple’s noble endeavors were considered private affairs, which conflicted with their official duties.

Two years ago, Wakanda was fatally attacked by the royal couple’s super human enemy- the mind controlling Darkheart. In the wake of the attack that devastated the nation, the royal couple resigned on the principle of accountability, they dissolved the monarchy and they gave governance to a democratic government.

Two years later a series of events caused T’Challa and Ororo to re consider leading Wakanda. Therefore, T’Challa and Ororo entered the Wakanda Presidential Election hoping to win the people’s mandate to use Wakanda’s resources to help the world. Their political opponents were Nginda and Slay (super powered secret society members) who wanted the opposite.

However, T’Challa and Ororo won the elections.

T’Challa and Ororo then offered Wakanda’s assistance to the world.

However, the nations of Earth were fearful of Wakanda’s omega weapon and the United Nations placed an international isolation policy on Wakanda that would be removed if the country ended the omega weapon program.

Nevertheless, The Black Panther and Storm continued to help those in need.

Then a terrorist named Kiber declared war on Wakanda and he tried to kill T’Challa and Ororo. Despite the failure Kiber prepared to launch a full-scale attack on Wakanda.

“We must delight in each other; make others’ conditions our own; rejoice together, mourn together, labor and suffer together, always having before our eyes our commission and community in the work, as members of the same body”

- John Winthrop, Shining City upon a Hill.

Story: Shining City upon a hill

Professor Cosar was a geo scientist who believed that a habitation could be built in the Earth’s mantle. However, Professor Cosar never found a financial donor to fund the construction of the habitat. Unwisely, Professor Cosar had borrowed the funds under fraudulent means from international mobsters. The mobsters tried to kill Professor Cosar when the scam was discovered.

However, Kiber saved Professor Cosar in a chance encounter. Kiber was an immortal from the Asia Steppes and he was born in 1067 A.D near the China and Mongolia border. He had lived a full life as a war lord known as Kiber the Cruel. Unfortunately, Kiber who was drunk fell for a meta human’s trickery. The meta human was hired by one of Kiber’s enemies and the objective was to make Kiber suffer. The meta human had inquired from Kiber what would be the most awful curse to fall on him.

“A long life and my army always with me,” replied Kiber.

The trickster meta human made Kiber’s response a reality and he destroyed Kiber’s family.

By the time Cosar had met Kiber, the immortal was a well connected multi billionaire with centuries of death on his hands. Kiber pitied Cosar; therefore, Kiber funded Cosar’s dream. The result was that Cosar secretly constructed a habitat in the Earth’s mantle and Cosar kept the habitat a secret after he discovered the extraordinary life forms that lived in the mantle.

Moreover, Kiber assisted Cosar with the sale of precious metals that were found in the habitat. The money generated from the sales was used to secretly procure equipment such as a teleportation machine as a means of transport, which replaced the elevator to the surface of the Earth. Oxygen generators were also bought.

The majority of Cosar’s time was spent learning to control the millions of bipedal creatures that lived in the mantle and in the habitat. There were two species of the creatures.

The first species were four feet tall and lived in a cavern like area of the mantle where the Habitat was constructed. The species were fairly weaker than a human and slower. The creatures were all blind but had an acute sense of touch and hearing. The bodies of the creatures fed on the heat in the mantle.

But the second species were aggressive, five foot eight tall, they had two faces that faced front and back; they spat acid that melted any rock type. The acid was shot from a short snout on the faces. Additionally, the second species were tunnellers and each of them had one eye on both faces. The second species also fed on the heat in the mantle.

Cosar believed that the creatures were evolved Acrea. Acrea were third type cell creatures that lived in hot conditions.

Furthermore, Cosar learned to communicate with the two species. The first species Cosar called Antos and he named the second species Terras.

Kiber had laughed in a friendly manner at the classifications but Cosar was not offended since he felt indebted to his savior and benefactor.

Nevertheless, Cosar felt that he needed to question Kiber concerning the destruction of Wakanda. Cosar had quietly stood by as Kiber used the Habitat as a base to launch an attack on Wakanda. Kiber had brought into the Habitat fifteen mechanical tunnellers; tonnes of explosives; an arsenal of military weapons and a team of biological weapon biochemists (Kiber had promised to mind wipe the biochemists).

However, the items that intrigued Cosar were the woman and the Sagittarius. Cosar could not take his mind from the woman’s beauty. Kiber called the woman Tempest. Tempest appeared to be twenty years old and five foot nine in height. She had curly golden shoulder length hair. Her eyes were dull and her face often blank. Kiber informed Cosar that Tempest was purchased from a firm in an alternate dimension; that she manipulated the weather and elemental energy.

The Sagittarius was called Taurus and it was also bought from the firm in the alternate dimension. The Sagittarius had curved heavy horns like the ram of a BigHorn Sheep. The human-like chest, abdomen and arms were muscular. The Sagittarius’s lower anatomy was like a horse with large hoofs. However, the horse-like part of the body was metallic and the end of the tail was flat and sharp like a blade. The Sagittarius’s red eyes threw out beams of heat that melted objects.

Cosar had disliked Taurus because the Sagittarius caused tension with the Terras. Thankfully, the majority of the Terras had gone with the mechanical tunnellers, which headed for Wakanda.

Cosar also played a strategic part in the planned attack on Wakanda other than the provision of accommodation. Cosar’s knowledge of geophysics was used and it had worried him. Therefore, Cosar had decided to find out what motivated Kiber to commit such an act.

Cosar stood at five foot six and he was dwarfed by Kiber who was the six foot two. At the time, Cosar approached Kiber for an explanation; Kiber was removing his left eye. Kiber used a mirror to aid the removal as he maneuvered a small knife and a tweezers.

“Why exactly are you harming these people?” inquired Cosar.

“They are a threat to the world,” replied Kiber. Kiber took up causes so he would not be bored with immortality.

The answer was not quite clear to Cosar because he was never interested in world politics. Cosar looked at Kiber who had a shaven head and appeared to be man in his prime.

“In what way?” asked Cosar.

“They have a weapon that cannot be countered and Wakanda believes that it is exceptional so it can have the world on it’s toes without any resistance,” responded Kiber.

Kiber took out the left eye and he dropped it into a bowl, which was filled with a yellow liquid solution. Another eye was next to the bowl. The eye was an advance organic technology designed for military use. Kiber inserted the new eye into the empty left eye socket before the rapid healing ability started.

“I am the resistance and I will ensure that no one will have access to the weapon,” said Kiber.

Kiber blinked twice once the eye was inserted correctly. Then Kiber transferred the original eye from the bowl to a small transparent case that snapped shut.

“I will be returning for this,” said Kiber as he pointed to the case.

Cosar smirked.

“Then what?” asked Cosar.

“I’ll do some space travelling. Come back two hundred years later by that time my face would have been forgotten.”

Cosar placed his hands in his trouser pockets. Now Cosar knew the reason Kiber had taught him how to sell the precious metals on his own and conduct business on the surface.

“One the other hand, you could find a good woman and settle down,” remarked Cosar.

“I can’t have children it is part of the curse and I am not going to break some poor woman’s heart after I disappear one day,” said Kiber bitterly, “I have a purpose for living and I can summon 100,000 soldiers by thought. I settled for that.”

Cosar had not wanted to upset Kiber; therefore, Cosar ended the conversation and he left.

Meanwhile, Kiber threw on a heavy jacket and he scooped up a laptop computer that was attached to a miniature satellite. Then Kiber went to Tempest who watched on a laptop computer videos of the Wakanda President Ororo ‘Storm’ in combat. Ororo’s style of combat was brutal and imaginative.

Ororo was thirty years old, black, had natural white hair and natural blue eyes.

“It is time,” said Kiber as he took off the laptop.

Kiber summoned a soldier from his thoughts and the soldier appeared fully dressed out of thin air. The soldier accompanied Tempest into the teleportation machine’s wormhole and they appeared on a cargo vessel that waited near Madagascar’s maritime border. The vessel would head up East Africa until the appointed time when Tempest would attack Wakanda.

Kiber checked his military watch. The biochemists were supposed to be returned to their homes with their minds wiped and millions of dollars richer than before. The soldiers that dropped off the scientists were then scheduled to travel to a country that bordered Wakanda for another part of the attack.

Taurus and several soldiers would remain in the Habitat until the appointed time when they would teleport into the attack.

Kiber informed Cosar of his departure. Then Kiber left through the teleportation machine and Kiber appeared on one of the Sandwich Islands in the South Atlantic Ocean. Kiber then began to setup the miniature satellite dish and he connected it to the laptop computer. Kiber’s intention was to link with his satellite in space. Kiber’s satellite would interrupt the communication satellites that orbited the Earth and transmit a message.

The message would be Kiber’s immediate surrender to Wakanda’s authorities.

Chapter

T’Challa and Ororo recuperated in bed from their love making as they celebrated their wedding anniversary.

Ororo used a remote control that turned on the music sound system in the bedroom and she selected love songs from her personal collection.

The lyrics of a song was, “Your love is so sweet,

It knocks me right off my feet,

Can’t explain why your loving makes me weak.”

T’Challa and Ororo snuggled under the sheets.

“I love you,” said T’Challa.

“I love you back,” said Ororo.

“Can’t explain why your loving makes me weak,” sang T’Challa.

“What was that?” Ororo asked jovially.

“Singing,” responded a grinning T’Challa.

“That is not singing. You can build complex machines, win a bar fight but singing is not your natural talent. You just don’t got it,” remarked Ororo playfully.

“But I have you the best woman in the universe and any other universe for that matter,” said T’Challa.

“That kind of flattery will get you some where,” said Ororo.

T’Challa and Ororo kissed each other slowly.

Suddenly, the two kimoyoes-palm held supercomputers- rang. T’Challa’s hand was nearest to the remote control and he turned off the music while Ororo answered the call without the video phone option. The caller identification number was from Modakai the Intelligence Division Manager.

“Good morning, President Ororo speaking,” said Ororo as she looked at the clock and it was indeed 5.00 am.

“Morning, Mrs. President. We have a development. The terrorist has surrendered and has given the coordinates to this location,” said Modakai in his dry middle age voice.

While Modakai spoke Ororo had placed the kimoyo on speaker mode. Immediately, T’Challa had snatched up his kimoyo; simultaneously, T’Challa slipped out of the bed; he hastily dressed into his battle uniform and he grabbed his sword.

“Where is he?” asked Ororo as she dressed.

“The Sandwich Islands,” responded Modakai.

T’Challa activated the call conference option on his kimoyo. T’Challa pressed a hidden button on the wall of the bedroom and the wall opened up to a brightly lit adjacent corridor. T’Challa raced down the corridor towards a vault. T’Challa entered the code and the door opened.

Behind the door was a room filled with confiscated weapons from T’Challa’s fallen opponents. The weapon that T’Challa was interested in was the dark force field controller. The controller created a dark force field that protected the body of the wielder. The dark force field was impenetrable except from another dark force instrument. Furthermore, T’Challa wanted the dark force controller because he was nearly killed by Kiber’s mysterious weapon in a confrontation and T’Challa did not want the outcome repeated.

Wakanda’s best doctors still were unsure how T’Challa survived a thousand shrapnel like metal pieces that had shot through his thirty-five years old body. But the consensus was that it was a one time miracle.

T’Challa broke into the call between Ororo and Modakai.

“We will be at the location shortly,” said T’Challa. He ran back to the bedroom.

“But the terrorist has already been picked up,” said Modakai.

“By whom?” asked Ororo.

“Slay and her team. She contacted us and since then has gone communications silent,” replied Modakai.

‘Does she want to score political points for bringing in the terrorist?’ thought T’Challa.

“Send the coordinates of her ship,” said T’Challa.

Slay was a member of Nginda’s opposition party. She was thirty three years old, smart, attractive and had high military skills. Moreover, Slay had non standard issued weapons; only Nginda and Slay knew the origins of the weapons.

Nginda wanted his opposition to be proactive; therefore, he had asked for the establishment of a special strike force that would track the terrorist while T’Challa and Ororo were on their missions to help the world. T’Challa and Ororo had agreed since it was logical, even though, they knew that the plan would be politicized by Nginda in the future.

The bipartisan agreement made Slay the leader of the strike force and a team member of her choice was appointed to the strike force whereas T’Challa and Ororo chose the three other team members. Furthermore, the team operated covertly and roamed the world for quick deployment. The strike force had a stealth air cruiser and the permission to enter any a country.

T’Challa and Ororo were given the coordinates of the air cruiser, which was tracked by spy satellites. The twin time space computers on T’Challa’s sword hilt teleported Ororo and him in nanoseconds from their home to the air cruiser.

Kiber was chained to a chair and gagged in a small windowless room. Nanities were injected into his bloodstream, which retarded his meta human abilities. A computerized full body and cellular scan was done on Kiber. The scan had not picked up any weapons or foreign bodies on or inside of Kiber.

In the meantime, Kiber counted down the minutes before the attack.

Chapter

The air cruiser’s security system indicated that a teleportation wormhole had appeared on the ship.

‘T’Challa and Ororo’ thought Slay. Still she placed her team on alert.

The age range in the team was twenty five years old to thirty three years old. The team consisted of G’Mal, Vibranax, Divine (the other female on the team), Nezh and Owui.

G’Mal was Slay’s appointment and in the past weeks Slay noticed that G’Mal and Divine were attracted to each other. Slay saw the relationship as an advantage since it split whatever loyalties Divine had for T’Challa and Ororo.

Additionally G’Mal’s and Divine’s romance had struck a cord in Slay with regards to her platonic relationship with Nginda. She was aware that Nginda had affections for her and she had for him but the grief she had for the lost of her first spouse had kept her apart from Nginda. However, Slay was willing to slowly start a romantic relationship with Nginda and she intended to tell him about it soon.

T’Challa and Ororo appeared on the captain deck of the air cruiser.

“Stop the ship,” said T’Challa since he was suspicious of Kiber’s surrender. T’Challa believed that Kiber wanted to be taken to Wakanda.

Slay ordered the ship’s artificial intelligence to pause the engines. The computer complied and the ship stopped just within Wakanda’s airspace.

Ororo looked over her shoulder at the rest of the team who holstered their weapons then they stood at attention. Despite T’Challa’s and Ororo’s opinions of Slay they would not berate her in front of the team members.

“Good work,” said Ororo to the team.

“Thanks Mrs. President,” said the team in unison.

“The prisoner is in a holding cell,” said Slay.

Slay, T’Challa, Ororo and G’Mal entered the holding cell. Slay instructed G’Mal to remove the metal gag from Kiber.

Kiber looked at his captors and he said nothing.

“What is your name?” asked T’Challa.

Kiber remained silent and he stared dumbly at the ground.

“You will be tried for the lives that you took. If found guilty you will be executed,” said T’Challa.

Kiber wanted to laugh at the absurdity of T’Challa’s statement. However, T’Challa had removed the sword that was connected to the back of his uniform. The large blade’s covering swiftly peeled back like skin into the hilt. The exposed blade was made entirely of dark force energy. T’Challa pointed the end of the sword in Kiber’s face. Kiber did not know what the blade was made of, but his instinct told him that the blade would permanently kill him.

“With this,” said T’Challa coldly. “Gag him”

G’Mal quickly and forcefully placed the metal gag into Kiber’s mouth.

T’Challa, Ororo and Slay exited the room.

“We want to speak in private with you,” said T’Challa.

“Right this way,” said Slay.

Slay led T’Challa and Ororo to a private room. Slay had expected the negative reaction from T’Challa and Ororo. But Slay had not cared. Under the terms of the agreement Slay was only answerable to an appointed independent oversight committee that represented the interest of the people of Wakanda.

“You should have waited for orders from us,” said T’Challa.

‘That will be the day’ thought Slay.

“Mr. President the terrorist publicly announced his location to the world. If we had waited other countries’ military units might had reached before us. Thus I acted accordingly,” said Slay.

The kimoyoes rang and T’Challa answered his own. The caller was Soma the Geo Division Manager. Soma’s face appeared on the computer screen. Soma had large cheeks, deep eyes and a large forehead.

“Good morning Mr. President, there has been tremendous seismic activity underneath Wakanda and a field team reported an attack by unidentified creatures in the Northern underground caves,” said Soma.

The kimoyoes indicated that a new call waited to be answered. Ororo took the new call on her kimoyo. The call was from the commander of the Navy Division. The commander was a woman.

“Good morning Mrs. President, there is a 900 foot tidal wave headed directly for Central City. Expected time of impact is two minutes,” said the Navy commander.

“I am on my way,” said Ororo.

Ororo looked at Slay.

“Where is the nearest exit door to get off this ship?” asked Ororo.

“Down the corridor turn right,” said Slay eagerly since Wakandan lives were at stake.

“T’Challa,” said Ororo as she spun around and ran out of the room.

T’Challa and Ororo knew that Wakanda was under attack. T’Challa looked at Soma on the computer screen.

“I’m going to the Northern caves. Keep me informed of further developments” said T’Challa.

T’Challa turned towards Slay.

“Keep the terrorist here. Don’t carry him to Wakanda,” said T’Challa and then the sword teleported T’Challa to the Northern caves.

Meanwhile in the holding cell, Kiber’s left eye turned green and began to glow. Kiber stared directly at the door and a green light exploded from the left eye. Instantaneously, the ship’s security system warned of a teleportation wormhole in the holding cell.

The wormhole opened wide enough for three soldiers armed with spinning barrel machine guns. The machine guns fired 1000 bullets per minute. Immediately, the soldiers opened fire at the door. The adamantium tipped bullets pierced the vibranium door.

G’Mal who had returned to the holding cell was shot. Divine who responded to the alert came behind G’Mal and she dragged G’Mal from the door. G’Mal was six foot seven and beefy. He had on the standard vibranium military body armour but Divine realized that he bled from gunshot wounds.

G’Mal struggled to breathe as Divine requested assistance over her communications link. Divine dug into her combat uniform’s medical pouch and tried to stop the bleeding. In the mean time, the staccato of the machine guns filled the corridor.

The other team members arrived and aided with the medical treatment of G’Mal. However, the gun men exited the holding cell and fired at the team. Slay rushed through the team and she opened fire with her pistols on the gunmen while she ordered the ship to drop the doors, which sealed off the holding cell from the rest of the ship.

“Move him to the upper decks,” said Slay, “Vib and Nezh come with me.”

The bullets ripped through the door with ease. Then Slay heard the sound of thrust and she realized a rocket propelled grenade was fired at the door.

“Move it,” shouted Slay to her team.

The rocket propelled grenade blew apart the door and the gunmen re commenced firing.

Inside the holding cell ten soldiers exited the worm hole. The soldiers had rocket packs on their backs. Three soldiers cut Kiber out the chair with a laser torch. Another soldier handed Kiber the magnetic cybernetic suit that Kiber had attempted to kill T’Challa with. Then Kiber was given a rocket back pack.

Taurus exited the wormhole and he was instructed to cut a hole in the wall behind the chair. Taurus used the laser from his eyes and he cut a circle in the wall and then he punched the cut out. The wall flew away and it crashed into the wing of the air cruiser.

The holding cell decompressed and everyone was sucked out of the cell into the air. Kiber and his soldiers activated their rocket back packs and they flew towards Wakanda. Taurus had the ability to fly without artificial means.

Wakanda’s spy satellites caught the attacking party and the airforce was alerted. A squadron of fighter jets thundered to Kiber’s coordinates. Kiber saw the fighter jets in the distance.

“Taurus clear a path for us,” shouted Kiber.

Taurus obeyed and he went ahead of the attacking party. Taurus went to the left of the squadron and then he began crashing into the fighter jets, punching them out of the sky like they were toys and blasting them with his laser eye beams. The fighter jets fired heat seeker missiles at Taurus but he survived the impacts because of his tough skin and rapid healing ability.

On the air cruiser Slay ordered Vibranax and Nezh to plug their ears while she used a non standard issued weapon. The weapon was a circular disc with finger holes. Slay turned on the weapon and it emitted a frequency that destroyed the eardrums of the gunmen.

On cue Slay, Vibranax and Nezh terminated the disoriented and unbalanced gunmen. Afterwards, Slay inquired on G’Mal’s health: he needed proper medical treatment. Then Slay used her personal communicator to speak with Nginda.

Chapter

Nginda was in his office when he received the call from Slay. Slay informed Nginda of Kiber’s escape. Nginda’s other communicator rang and the caller was an informant in the Defense Division. Nginda did not accept the informant’s call and he concentrated on Slay.

“I’ll be there,” said Nginda.

“No go after the terrorist,” said Slay, “I love you.”

“I love you too,” said Nginda sincerely.

Then Slay ended the call. Nginda was about to summon the Hatura inside of him when he heard shouts from the courtyard that was below his office window. At the top of the lawn a hole had appeared in the ground and then a Terra emerged. Five security officers shot the Terra but another one appeared behind the officers and it spat acid on the officers. Concerned citizens took the officers to safety.

An orange light enveloped Nginda and he transformed into the Hatura. The Hatura had a grey exoskeleton; its body was hulking and had rapid regeneration. Moreover, the Hatura was capable of unassisted flight.

Nginda busted out of the office window and he flew towards the Terra. Nginda’s massive hand clasped around the Terra’s body. Nginda squeezed the Terra until it died.

Nginda looked at his palm; it was covered with a substance that resembled crude oil. The dead Terra also had the odd substance over its body. Nginda inhaled the scent of the substance and it smelt like oil.

Suddenly, seven Terras emerged from the ground and they attacked Nginda. As Nginda fought back he heard the sounds of gunshots and military airships around him. Once Nginda had finished off his attackers he flew into the sky to survey the area.

There were hundreds of the Terras in the streets and some of them headed into buildings. The army arrived quickly to the scene. Meanwhile the citizens were not in a panic instead they went orderly to safety. Nginda decided to take on the creatures while the army did evacuations.

Inside of the Northern Caves T’Challa slashed through a group of crude oil covered Terras. He called in the army to secure to the area. The Airforce commander contacted and informed T’Challa that a new creature was destroying the airforce.

T’Challa touched an icon on the kimoyo’s screen. Miles away in the Defence Division’s garage a sleek black sky bike was remotely powered on. The anti gravity plates on the underside of the sky bike were activated. The sky bike floated and it commanded the door in front of it to open. The single turbo engine roared to life and a tongue of flames emerged from the circular exhaust at the rear end of the sky bike. Then the sky bike shot out of the garage like a bullet.

T’Challa teleported to the top of a building that was in the vicinity of the Defense Division. The sky bike arrived shortly. The sky bike was designed for tremendous speeds through the air. The rider laid forward on the stomach; the hands controlled the acceleration and steering. There was an automatic air mask in the control panel for high altitude flight.

T’Challa teleported to the scene of the air combat between the creature and the airforce. The sky was polluted with parachutes and damaged planes. A din was created by the cry of missiles, the explosion of planes and the thunder cracks of engines. T’Challa slowed the acceleration of the sky bike. T’Challa spotted the creature and he steadied himself with the sword in his right hand.

‘I have to guess its next target’ thought T’Challa.

Taurus moved with the energy of a wild mustang and at times it seemed as though he galloped majestically in the air.

T’Challa guessed Taurus’s next target and T’Challa teleported in front of the fighter jet just as Taurus neared it.

T’Challa’s right hand was sure and T’Challa swung the sword’s blade into Taurus. Taurus was cut in half and the carcass plummeted to the ground.

T’Challa contacted air command for the location of the body. Once T’Challa had the location he accelerated the sky bike and he rode down to the site. T’Challa slid off the sky bike and he confirmed that Taurus was dead.

T’Challa heard a hundred thunders at once; the clouds blackened and grew ominously until the sunlight was completely gone.

“Ororo,” said T’Challa.

Chapter

Ororo had arrived in time to combat the tidal wave. The tidal wave was a gigantic wall of blue water that moved swiftly towards the land. The tidal wave already had several ships in its bosom. There was a hush between the goliath body of water and the seafront.

Ororo concentrated hard. She wanted a pressure dome: a big one. Ororo estimated the centre of the tidal wave which was difficult because of the extreme width of the tidal wave.

Suddenly, Ororo released a powerful pressure dome. The tidal wave lost its forward momentum and the pressure dome’s extraordinary force pushed the tidal wave backwards. Subsequently, the body of water collapsed backwards and it returned to the ocean.

A high voltage bolt of lightening struck Ororo. Ororo was not affected as a weather manipulator. But the lightening and the tidal wave were distractions created by Tempest. Tempest flew as quickly as lightening itself and she punched Ororo in the jaw. On Tempest’s hands were knuckle rings and each ring had a small spike.

Ororo steadied herself. The adrenaline in Ororo’s body lessened the pain of the scratch on her face. Ororo saw Tempest who floated on the wind currents and was attired in a brown jacket and camouflage pants. The sky became murky and hellish.

‘She is not in control of her emotions,’ thought Ororo since she knew that the weather was attuned to a manipulator’s emotional state. Therefore, Ororo was made aware that the opponent was powerful but inexperienced.

“Identify yourself girl,” said Ororo.

“He calls me Tempest,” said Tempest.

‘She means the terrorist,’ thought Ororo. Ororo noticed Tempest’s knuckle rings. ‘She came prepared to street fight with me,’ thought Ororo.

It was Ororo’s tactic to use hand to hand combat whenever she faced a similarly powered adversary.

“What is your reason for being here?” asked Ororo.

“To end your life,” replied Tempest.

“Dearest you’re out of your league,” said Ororo.

Ororo charged into Tempest. Tempest darted out of the path and she flew below Ororo. Ororo reduced her speed by a fraction for Tempest to catch her. Tempest used the speed of her youth to reach Ororo and prepared to deliver a punch to the throat.

As Tempest dashed in to land the death blow Ororo removed the small knife from her belt. Ororo expertly avoided the death blow and she slashed an artery on Tempest’s arm. Tempest had not felt the wound.

Ororo propelled herself with the wind currents that filled up the flaps attached to her uniform. Tempest glided on the winds; twisted and turned back to Ororo.

Ororo flew towards the shore at a fast pace. She headed for a less habited area, which were cliffs at the edge of the ocean. Ororo felt that Tempest gained on her. Then Ororo stopped and floated on the wind currents. Tempest went by Ororo and then the girl stopped. Ororo returned the knife to her belt and she stared at Tempest. Then Ororo drastically increased the temperature around Tempest and herself.

“You can’t harm me with that,” said Tempest.

“Your arm is bleeding. That race to get here caused your body to request more blood from your heart but it was never delivered and the heat exasperated the situation. You and I may not feel the affects of the weather but we are still prone to the subtleties of biology,” said Ororo.

Suddenly, Tempest fainted and she fell headfirst above the cliffs. Ororo swooped down and she saved Tempest. The sky slowly cleared up.

Ororo contacted the Defence Division; she requested nanites and a medical crew.

As Ororo flew inland she saw that the land rippled and suddenly oil gushers broke out everywhere. The oil gushers reached to 200 meters in the air and fell like black rain. A few seconds later all the oil gushers caught a fire.

“What is this now?” Ororo asked aloud as the ground breathed fire.

Chapter

Wakanda had massive unused light crude oil reservoirs underneath: human habitations, the jungles and the savannahs. Suddenly all the oil reservoirs were combusted as Kiber had planned it with the aid of Cosar.

The method for the oil reservoir combustion was called In Situ Combustion. The soldiers in the mechanical diggers had released the Terras underneath Wakanda and the creatures had created tunnels that led from Wakanda’s oil reservoirs to the surface. Oxygen was injected into the oil reservoirs and explosives were detonated in the oil reservoirs; the heat, vaporized water, solvents, pressure and gases pushed the oil through the tunnels towards the surface.

Meanwhile the diggers sealed all the exit tunnels made by the Terras so the oil would not flow down into the mantle.

Afterwards, the mechanical diggers attacked a vein of magma flow that was underneath the Ethiopian Rift Valley. The diggers diverted the magma vein towards Wakanda. At the same time the diggers sealed the tunnels they had made, which connected to Cosar’s Habitat.

Wakanda had no volcanoes but it had a thin earth crust which was suitable for the easy flow of magma from the earth to the surface. The diggers blew up themselves after the magma vein was under Wakanda. The pressure and shifting of the earth from the massive explosions caused the magma to flow angrily upward.

As Wakanda reeled from the flaming oil gushers that emerged from under homes, buildings and in wildlife habitats Kiber and his soldiers created an audio video link to his satellite. Kiber’s satellite then interrupted the broadcast of the other communication satellites in orbit around the Earth.

Kiber used the background of the flaming oil gushers for the broadcast.

“The free world has no longer to be concerned about Wakanda. I have destroyed the country like I had promised. I am burning down their cities and towns. Nothing will remain in the ashes,” said Kiber triumphantly to the worldwide audience.

Kiber ended the transmission; he checked a watch provided by a soldier and the last act of the plan was about to be implemented. Then Kiber and his soldiers teleported to Cosar’s habitat.

Every year clans of Yellow Tail monkeys from Wakanda migrated to a bordering country and they ate from special fruit trees that ripened in that season. Afterwards, the monkeys returned to Wakanda over a forested mountain range border.

Kiber’s soldiers had pretended to be biologists who studied the Yellow Tail monkeys. The soldiers shared a camp with tourists, border guards and other wildlife biologists. The night before the attack on Wakanda the soldiers had taken over the camp and they had tied up the other occupants.

Afterwards the soldiers brought up a truck load of Yellow Tail monkey androids. The androids were placed in two groups. The first group of androids contained a plague that was created from an extraterrestrial bacterium. The plague could be spread through the air, by contact and body fluids. The plague killed all organic life forms and it was easily spread from animal to human. The androids were programmed to spread the plague once they were inside of Wakanda.

The second group of androids carried bombs. The borders of Wakanda were patrolled by invisible robots. Special robots patrolled the Yellow Tail monkeys’ migration path. These special robots scanned the monkeys for diseases. The armed androids would venture first into Wakanda with the real monkeys and destroy the robots in the explosion.

The plague carrying androids would enter Wakanda in the confusion. The appointed time came and the androids were released.

Chapter

T’Challa was in the situation room. Moments before T’Challa was in the area where Kiber made the transmission. But Kiber had gone by the time T’Challa had arrived. The spy satellites surveyed Wakanda but there was no sign of Kiber.

Soma the geo scientist was brought inside the situation room for his expertise. Ororo was in the field and she carried away the oil gushers’ toxic fumes from the cities.

The Wakandans used their ingenuity and cooperation to extinguish the burning oil gushers. It was a shining example of Wakanda’s strenght as a nation.

But Soma knew that most of the work needed to be done underground. Then Soma noticed the new threat.

“Mr. President, the seismic sensors are reading the expected emergence of huge volcanoes, practically everywhere,” said Soma.

“How soon?” asked T’Challa.

“Within the next hour,” replied Soma.

Soma activated a hologram of Wakanda’s underground layout. Soma indicated where tunnels were required for: the reduction of the pressure in the earth and the redirection of gases.

“The problems are the time constraint to move equipment and we don’t know what exactly is going on down there,” said Soma.

T’Challa had a solution and he turned to his communication officer.

“Bring Nginda here,” said T’Challa and then he called Ororo to the situation room.

Nginda and Ororo arrived quickly and Soma laid out the plan to them. Nginda and Ororo would work together since both of them could withstand the heat in the ground. Nginda would use his extraordinary strength to form the new tunnels and redirect the magma flows. Meanwhile, Ororo would remove the oxygen in the ground, which would end the fires in the oil reservoirs. Soma would provide personal assistance with two orb shaped drones, which floated in the air; therefore, Soma would see and hear everything that Ororo and Nginda did.

As soon as Ororo, Nginda and the drones departed the Wildlife Division Manager called and brought the Yellow Tail monkeys incident to T’Challa’s attention.

“Satellites show that an explosion destroyed the border robots and several new monkeys passed through the fires unaffected. One of the robots survived momentarily and it ran a scan on the new monkeys. They are robotic,” said the Wildlife Division Manager, “Air drones and satellites are still tracking the new monkeys, which are headed inland.”

“Wait Mr. President. New information has just come to hand. The areas that the new monkeys had entered are dying. Massive cellular destruction reported in wildlife that were under regular observation and were previously normal,” said the Wildlife Division manager.

“Most likely it is a virus. I will be on the scene shortly,” said T’Challa.

T’Challa informed all the Divisions that Wakanda was under a biological attack. Then T’Challa told Slay to meet him near the habitat of the Yellow Tail monkeys.

Slay was a skilled tracker and T’Challa knew it from her files.

Three hundred biohazard soldiers on sky bikes led by T’Challa arrived in the Yellow Tail monkey habitat. Slay arrived on the flying disc that she used.

Animals stampeded out of the jungle. Predator and prey alike ran for their lives. Flocks of birds fled from the area.

“Get all those animals tested,” said T’Challa to the Wildlife Division manager who was inside the biohazard airship that followed the soldiers.

Slay was handed a biohazard suit while T’Challa used the dark force field for protection. The soldiers carried a gun that fired a substance that encapsulated the target. T’Challa and Slay armed themselves with the special gun.

The Wildlife Division provided information on the location of the androids. T’Challa led the bio hazard soldiers into the area and a force field was placed around the location, which prevented the androids from escaping.

Five minutes into the area and disaster struck. An android came upon a soldier. The android’s fake fur was partially burnt off and the robotic nature was visible. The android sprayed the plague into the air and the particles entered the soldier’s biohazard suit.

T’Challa shot the android and the substance formed a thick blue bubble around the android. But the soldier was infected.

“The suits are useless. Everyone get out of the force field,” said T’Challa.

The soldiers left their guns.

“Slay I want you to stay with soldiers. I may need you,” said T’Challa.

Slay did not respond and she left.

T’Challa laboriously hunted down the androids. The dark force field protected him from the airborne plague. The androids traveled on the ground and were mostly in-groups.

Eventually the hunt came down to one android. However, the android hid inside a small cave that was too small for T’Challa to enter. T’Challa teleported and he reappeared in the biohazard airship. He passed through the cleanser process.

T’Challa was told that the infected soldier was quarantined in an anti gravity chamber; the plague was isolated and scientists worked on a cure.

T’Challa went to Slay and he told her about the android. Then T’Challa gave Slay the dark force controller and his sword.

Slay’s dislike for T’Challa lessened because of the act of co operation. Slay teleported to the cave; she entered it and she captured the last android.

Chapter

Ororo and Nginda worked feverishly with the assistance of Soma. Ororo manipulated oxygen atoms out the rocks and she sent them to the surface. Without the oxygen the fires ended. Meanwhile, Nginda punched through the rocks and he created the necessary tunnels. The magma stopped flowing to the surface and it went below in the new tunnels.

Nginda and Soma came across several of the tunnels that were created by the mechanical tunnel diggers. Accidentally, Nginda knocked into a wall in one of the discovered tunnels. Soma’s orb did a scan of the wall and found that it was artificial. Nginda studied the tracks on the tunnel wall.

“The tracks appear to have come from behind the artificial wall,” said Nginda.

Nginda punched a hole through the wall that revealed a tunnel that went downward. Soma sent a probe from the orb and the probe went down the tunnel.

“This tunnel leads further into the Earth’s mantle. Possibly it is where the attackers came from,” said Soma.

“Tell Ororo and we will investigate it together,” said Nginda.

“I won’t be able to follow. This is the lowest that the drone can go,” said Soma.

“I understand,” said Nginda.

Ororo met Nginda at the tunnel and they flew down it. Ororo provided a light when she charged the ring of hydrocarbons around her hands. The light assisted Nginda. Ororo felt the intensity of the gravity and the heat that came from the Earth’s core.

Ororo and Nginda increased their speed. Suddenly, Ororo and Nginda passed several Antos that clung onto the tunnel walls. Then the Habitat appeared.

The Antos scattered and the few Terras rushed towards Ororo and Nginda. Nginda rampaged through the Terras.

Ororo flew to the ceiling for a better view of the Habitat.

Kiber and Cosar saw Ororo. At the time, Kiber had returned the original eye to the socket and he had prepared to leave the Habitat.

“Come on,” said Kiber.

Kiber grabbed Cosar’s left arm and they went to the teleportation machine.

“On the other side is a house, there is money,” said Kiber.

“Aren’t you going too?” asked Cosar.

“No. I have to deal with these fools,” replied Kiber. “Besides I am going into space remembered,”

Cosar entered the teleportation machine and he disappeared. Immediately, Kiber stamped a small bomb on the teleportation machine and he walked away. The teleportation machine exploded. Then Kiber summoned his soldiers.

Kiber and his soldiers armed themselves with automatic rifles. The soldiers attacked Ororo and Nginda while Kiber carried a small floating platform to the base of the Habitat. Tonnes of explosive material were on the platform.

At the base of the Habitat were bubbling pools of a hot silver substance. Cosar had believed that the substance came from the Earth’s Core. Also in the base were the pipes that drew heat from the rocks. The heat was used to power the Habitat.

While Kiber prepared the detonator for the bomb he had not realized that Ororo had descended behind him. Ororo had defeated all of the soldiers when she ignited the gun powder in their rifles. As a result the rifles exploded in the soldiers’ faces. Nginda pointed out where he had last seen Kiber.

Ororo waited for Kiber to turn around. Kiber did. Ororo fired a lightening bolt from her left hand. The lightening struck Kiber and he stumbled into a pool of the hot substance.

Kiber was submerged in the pool for twenty seconds then he surfaced. Kiber crawled out the pool. He was covered in the substance that quickly hardened like concrete. Kiber’s body stopped crawling and he froze like a sculpture. Instantaneously, all of Kiber’s soldiers disappeared.

Ororo touched Kiber but he was lifeless.

Chapter

Ororo and Nginda returned with Kiber to Wakanda. Subsequently, the army took over the Habitat.

However, T’Challa and Ororo were called to the Defence Division medical ward by the doctor who treated Tempest.

“We have to purge the nanities from her body because they are harming her baby,” said the doctor, “She is three months pregnant.”

One Response to “Black Panther and Storm in Shining City upon a Hill”

  1. As usual very good story. I particulary enjoyed the fight scene between Ororo and Tempest-experience vs. youth. I also liked how you took Nginda and Slay and created a situation in which they had to ally themselves with their rivals in T’Challa and Ororo. While the couples may differ politically they all love Wakanda and will do anything to protect its citizens even if it means relying and working side by side an “enemy” of sorts. In addition, I liked that Ororo was able to settle the score with Kiber who nearly killed her husband. Those were all great highlighs for me in the story along with the overwhelming threat to Wakanda from all points. Finally, I really enjoyed the light hearted romantic discourse between Ororo and T’Challa about his singing. Although your romantic scenes are always a little too PG for my taste. They are a hot couple with lots of passion and should be depicted as such. Other than that my friend I continue to enjoy all your hard work and look forward to reading the next installment.
